“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”
2 Corinthians 6:14-18
I am asked many times why I worry about things that go on in Internet groups and fandoms, and why I should preach so much against their sins. People of modern times, even professing Christians, have the notion that it is nobody's business what others do in their lives. This apathetic notion has taken on more extreme measures - causing people to openly live out sinful lives and even endorse it in their music and television shows.
The spiritual state of any society can be measured by its fruits, for as Christ says: "By their fruits shall ye know them" (Matthew 7:16). Therefore the very fact that almost every popular song out there is about sexual love or any such endorsement of fulfilling carnal desires is a reflection of where our society is at spiritually. Walking into any restaurant, observing any of my colleagues and the music they listen to, and walking around any corner on the street will openly reveal the apostasy of modern times. I have seen self-professing Christians many times speak favorably about celebrities such as Beyonce; who is by no doubt satanic, and openly worships the devil by both her deeds and her music.
Now, the same reason that any Christian should reject the wickedness of popular media is the same reason they ought to reject God-deprived groups of the Internet. A Christian's first desire is to love God and to follow Him by the set statutes given through Jesus Christ and through the Gospel alone. This means therefore that the Christian must reject those things that God rejects, and accept those things that God accepts. The extreme measures by which many Internet fandoms such as Anime, Furry, Brony, and copious others should be rejected by the Christian, or at least those Christiand who are in these groups should speak out and rebuke their sinful counterparts, because we cannot be unevenly yoked with darkness. The Internet is a very, very integrated part of society today, to ignore the Internet is to ignore too much that indicates the spiritual depravity of society.
Now, to answer the questions concerning why I even spend time and energy against Internet groups is two-fold. That is:
1.) The very fact that Christians cannot stand up against only some things that are sinful, but ignore the rest or simply put it off as 'none of their business'.
2.) My history on the Internet, and seeing the wickedness therein and how many Christians have fallen into its trap.
It is hypocritical for a Christian to reject certain carnal sins, and then ignore or even accept another. I have seen several poor servants of Christ fall into spiritual afflictions and stumbling blocks because they refused to leave the groups they were affiliated with.
The spiritual state of any society can be determined by its fruits; glorifying God's creation more than God is a disastereous sin. It is an abomination for a man to worship the works of one's own hands, or to worship animals. Even worse is to mix humanity (God's image) with four-footed beasts and creeping things.
