The most common pro-abortion arguments answered succinctly.
“Women have reproductive rights!”
Reproduction isn’t a right, it’s a choice. The choice happens when you choose to have sex.
“The fetus isn’t human.”
Yes it is, it has every biological requirement to be human. It is a human in early development.
“Well, the fetus isn’t a person then.””
Humanness and personhood should never be separated based on your convenience, otherwise we’re right back to Hitler and Nazi Germany.
“Fetuses are unaware and do not really have feelings.”
Basing a person’s value of life on their ability to perceive is akin to saying people in comas and the severe mentally retarded are less of a person than us.
“Why doesn’t anybody have a problem then when we pull the plug on an old man in a coma he’ll never come out of?”
Because we aren’t stabbing and ripping apart the old man into pieces based on another’s sexual convenience.
“What if the child’s life is going to be miserable? Shouldn’t we just kill it?”
Should a mother kill their 5 year old because it’s having, or is going to have, a miserable life? It’s not your place to determine whether another’s life is worth living.
“So then you commit mass murder every time you masturbate! And so do women when they have their periods!”
No. Gametes are not human beings. Put 23 and 23 together, then you get a zygote, which is the very start of a human being.
“So what if it’s another person? Nobody has the right to use another’s body without their consent!”
Problem is, over 99% of all cases where pregnancy results, the mother is responsible for the dependence of the unborn child because she had consented sex. Also, in every case other than abortion where one is denied the use of another’s body, intentional killing does not take place.
“Consented sex does not mean consented pregnancy.”
Sure, but you’re still responsible for the pregnancy. If I eat McDonald’s every day, I don’t necessarily consent to becoming obese - but I’d be responsible for being obese.
